That is exactly what happened in 2013, when we first saw the presbytery in Montebello, QC. The Montebello presbytery was still for sale when we returned a year later. We began imagining the possibilities…

1938 – 2023
The Montebello presbytery was built in 1938 by Monsignor Chamberland, the priest who oversaw the region surrounding Montebello.
Unfortunately, the church to which the presbytery belongs had to sell it in order to raise funds to repair the church. The presbytery was in a deplorable condition, having been rented out for about twenty years. At times, when it rained, it rained more inside than outside!
The restoration work required to bring it back to life was extensive: roof repairs, stonework restoration, collapsed walls and ceilings, and a complete upgrade of the electrical and plumbing systems, along with the construction of a pool and garden sanctuary.

Renovating a century-old historic building comes with many quirks, especially when transforming it into a modern luxury hotel.
A complete upgrade of all electrical systems from 60 amps to 400 amps was required. In terms of plumbing, we now needed to accommodate 8 luxury guest rooms equipped with luxury Italian showers with body jets and jacuzzi bathtubs.
